The XV International Summer School is organised as a combination of theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises, conferences and work-groups. Based on the observation of the New Europe and on its relation in the global geopolitical arena, the Summer School encompasses the complexity and multiple dimension of innovation in the different spheres of society. This approach calls for the development of integrated, multi-disciplinary and participatory methods and tools. Whilst dealing with such complexity, participatory processes of active citizenship and their feed-backs to new research streams are held essential to hider potential conflicts arising from innovation taking into account the multiple perspectives and values intrinsic to all stakeholders. Thus, the production of knowledge and its efficient brokerage is held essential to support innovative civil society dynamics and pro-active policy formulation.
"Imagine. Create. Innovate". With this slogan the European Commission has launched, in January 2009, the Year of Creativity and Innovation aiming to promote creative and innovative approaches in different sectors of human activity and help equip the European Union for the challenges ahead in a globalised world.
